For me they are effectively over-ear, but they become uncomfortable after about half an hour. The 42 narrow fits me perfectly and is so comfortable! So, got a replacement in a couple of days (thanks Amazon! air zoom type No cons, just what I wanted, where I am very happy with the purchase.
