My husband is a large man so he needs them. They are ok. panhandle button up The white is not real leather (something I knew going in, so its fine with me) which means they dont last FOREVER like regular Birks, but I still got a few years out of them with very frequent wear (daily all summer) and miles and miles of walking on all terrains. The heel is high enough but not so high that you cant enjoy them.
